We believe the carpet was woven in the 3\u003csup\u003erd\u003c\/sup\u003e quarter of 20\u003csup\u003eth\u003c\/sup\u003e century\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"MsoNormal\"\u003eA potted history of its tribal origin: The distinctive linked triple medalions confirm the origin as Khamseh Confederacy. The Qajars, the ruling house of Persia in 1861 ‘encouraged’ five tribes (khamseh = five) to merge to form a balancing alliance against the powerful Qashqai tribes. This was a canny example of the opposite of \u003ci\u003e‘divide and rule’\u003c\/i\u003e!
