In 1983 Rufus Reade set up the Edinburgh based carpet shop, The Nomads Tent which involved regular trips to Turkey to source rugs for his new business. These travels led to his first tour in 1987 to Eastern Turkey.
Rufus Reade has been planning, organising and leading small tours since then, fuelled by a love of travel, an insatiable curiosity and the pleasure of sharing his discoveries with his traveling companions. The tours are conceived as a way of bringing individuals together to share the journey. Be prepared for the unexpected, with an emphasis on getting to know the country in the broadest possible way.
You’ll find up to date details of his tours on his website, and an opportunity to go on his mailing list. He personally leads the tours and is often accompanied by a UK expert. Group sizes vary from a maximum of 15 to 22 people (the exact size depends on the nature of the tour). On the tour you’ll get daily notes about the plans for the day, and some historical/cultural background. After the tour has returned to the UK you can expect a photographic diary of the tour.
