Kamo Sofreh

Kamo Sofreh, Central Iran. Kamo is a village in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari province of central Iran. Old sofreh from the area are much sought after tribal kilims that were in the past woven exclusively for domestic use but rediscovered for their minimalist design and thus very collectible. Sofreh is a term for small square kilims that were in the past used as floor ‘table cloths’; bread or other food would be laid on in prior to a meal. This sofreh is new production, based on antique Kamo village design, woven in an artisan workshop in Northern Iran. Dyes used are all natural and the wool is hand-spun. With a striking and bold design, this piece would work well as a wall hanging.
