Karadjar, NW Iran. Hand knotted with hand spun wool. 100% wool pile, cotton warps.
Karadjar (Karaja, Karajar, Karageh), are quite popular and typified by an alternating sequence of medalions, with a cross, square or hexagonal structure. The square motif is often reminiscent of the water tank motif, derived from the great Persian ‘garden carpets’, woven images of Persian gardens.
